Short WUB #9

This has to be really brief, as I'm under the gun with a deadline for school and also really, really exhausted. However, I haven't updated in a while and I know I'm long overdue!

First off, I'm so pleased to say that I did 365 minutes of cardio this week. Well over my goal, yay me. A lot of it was gardening again. My front yard is done, and I really need to put up before and after photos.

We were supposed to run our 5Ks this week, and I had my PT tape my feet for it specifically. Unfortunately, even with the tape, the pain from the tendonitis was just too bad. Rather than NOT race, I decided to make up my own race. Since I've never really paid attention to how fast or how far I can bike, and since my husband and I are finally getting "real" bikes and want to start doing a lot with them, I decided to make up my own bike race. I wanted to know how fast I could bike 5 miles of "hilly" terrain. Well, it took me 20:56 minutes. I don't know how good or bad that is, but at least now I have a benchmark!

We were also supposed to go on an adventure this week. I hate to say it, especially since I LOVE adventures, but I didn't get to have an adventure this week unless you count a little bike shopping today with my husband. We can't afford two bikes at once, so he's getting one first. I can't wait until I get one, but it will have to wait. Times are tight, and I'm about to head off on a big trip/adventure in a couple days.

Which brings me to the end of this WUB... yes, by Wednesday, I will be on a 2 day long, cross country road trip in my trusty 220k mile car. (I wasn't being facetious, it IS trusty and I'm so impressed by the fact that it has 220k miles on it). I'm heading west out into country I adore for a series of conferences and some camping with a friend. I can't tell you how forward I'm looking to hiking mountains while I'm out there, and how I feel the best prepared for it physically that I probably ever have. My feet still hurt and I won't have my PT to tape them, so there will be that barrier to contend with, but otherwise I feel really good.

I may still be a big girl, but damn it, I'm a slightly fit one.

    Wow you are doing fantastic! I know exactly what you mean about gardening being a great and foot-safe workout! My yard has never looked so nice ;) Can't you use your husband's bike while you are waiting for your own? I'm sure you can adjust the seat back for him when you are done. Of course, it would be a solo ride and I get the impression that this was something you wanted to do together.

    Have fun hiking, camping, and conferencing! I do love how conferences take us to interesting places.
