My Diet Bet - 77% of my goal for the month

Thursday, June 13, 2013

Today is day 11 out of 24 for my Diet Bet. If you aren't familiar with this concept, you can view my profile here:

Basically, I bet $25 that I can lose 4% of my weight in one month. At the end of the month all of the winners get to share the pot. The game I am involved with is called, "Blogilates June Dietbet" and it has almost 6,000 players!! The pot is $149,700. There is 18 days left and I am already 77% of the way to my goal. I really haven't done too much. I have been exercising more (which isn't saying a lot) and eating better even though I am still over my Spark calorie goals most days. The hardest part is not overeating at dinner.

Actually, I am shocked at my progress and I am scared that next week I will get on the scale and it will be all crazy high. I distrust the scale since weight fluctuates so much.

Mostly, I want my $25 back. I can't afford to part with it. Luckily, my weight is within my control.

I am fired up about my lifestyle changes and I hope to keep it up. This Diet Bet is a good push in the right directions. I am so worried that I will run out of time, that it keeps me motivated. I sneak in exercise everywhere I can. If I am waiting at the train, I walk until the train comes. I move while I brush my teeth. I take active breaks from work. I do sun salutations in the morning.

I have also been doing 10 minutes of core training each day while my hip recovers (turns out I injured my glutius medius muscle). There is still lots of pain when walking so I haven't taken long walks and the idea of running makes me want to laugh out loud...but hopefully some day soon...I can!

Here was my lunch today, spicy fake chicken salad:
