Day 10 & protein powder recommendations?

Thursday, June 13, 2013

Yesterday was pretty great food wise while I did eat 2 slices left over pizza I still stayed perfectly in the middle for calories carbs protein and the low end for fat so I'm happy with the e day. Exercise wise not so much steps were around 4000 and I skipped both my normal workout and the june challenge o well we all need days off and tonight I will get back too it.

Breakfast-pb banana protein shake
lunch- baked cod, cauliflower
dinner-2 slice pizza 1/2 choc protein shake
snack- cantaloupe & slice of turkey deli meat
water-4 :(

I'm trying to balance my carbs and protein so between 150-160 of each came pretty close yesterday I think that is my perfect balance so I'm going to keep pushing for that. although I think I'm already off since I didn't have any protein for breakfast this morning as I was in an insane hurry. I'm going to look for some good protein powders in other flavors currently I just have chocolate but I'd like to be able to add it to any smoothie I make and I think a chocolate grapefruit smoothie might be kind of gross lol so maybe vanilla or strawberry or something does anyone have any good suggestions on brands they like? Tomorrow's week 1 weigh in for the summer challenge hoping that it will be a good one!

hey hey! i saw you were looking for protien powder and the one i'd say you have to try is Terra's Whey organic bourbon vanilla. they also have a rBGH Free version. its a very fine powder so it doesnt taste chunky. Its my absolute favorite!! i've even snuck it in oatmeal! They have other flavors but i was never big on it. i preferred to have a vanilla that i could have alone or add other flavors to!

I used to work in a coffee shop that also did blended drinks and goodies like that so here's what i used the terra's whey in (almost daily):

    Vanilla protien shakes
    Mint and vanilla shake
On special days, chocolate mint vanilla shake (weird but delicious!!)
    Chai shake
    Vanilla Chai shake
Caramel Chai shake(my favorite and my creation!)
Strawberry key lime and yogurt shake
Mango orange key lime and yogurt shake

(if you can get the milk hot enough (dont go above 180 degrees it will burn!) to melt the powder, make hot chocolate *** but it can go badly if it's not hot enough!)

For the first 6 I'd usually do the flavoring i wanted, vanilla soy milk (or your choice of milks), protien powder, ice and blendy!

for the last 2 shakes i used the pre made mixes at work, prtien powder and ice, but it can be easily recreated using yogurt, and the fruits in place of mixes. also try kefer flavored yogurt in the smoothies, those help make it easier and creamy!

You can get the mint, caramel, and vanilla flavoring usually in a coffee aisle. (World Market has some good ones too!) flavor to taste! (less is better to start with)

Hope these ideas help! feel free to message me if you need ideas!
