What a day!

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

Well, first of all, I did well on my foods (after I got to town anyway) - I took a veggie bag, bought a banana and a single serving of cottage. cheese... at the launching, I had some grapes and 2 cookies.

we went to the library for the book launching and it was wonderful. There was an extra special treat... with this being the 300th anniversary for Louisbourg, they sent in a troupe of people in period costumes and they did a little skit and musical prior to the overhead presentation by the author. He didn't really talk about the book, just the history of Louisbourg with maps and pics etc. To think, the last time we went there was in 1978..... When I was in school, we went there on a field trip, and it was purely ruin, not an actively running rendition of how it used to be in 1700's. Also found out it is free admission on Canada Day- July 1... and Dh even wants to go. I guess we will leave Buddy with his nanny that day, it will be a long day. Also, found out they do a dinner theatre on Weds., and a Murder mystery on Thursdays. It's a little drive, maybe 30 or 40 min, ( I don't really know). Anyway ,what they have excavated (kind of like Atlantis!) is only about 1/5 of the size of what it really was at the time. Also, it had an amazing harbour, and if there hadn't been all the fighting by the English and the French, it might have been the capital city of NS, instead of very educational evening... NOw, it would be nice to get the book while much of this is still fresh in my mind...

Also, we had the weirdest thing happen today. We saw a doppleganger for Buddy. We had just put him in his bed and picked up m-i-l and we drove to the library. As I drove into parking lot, I saw a lady siting in a red car (like me) with a dog on her lap, and I said, "There's Buddy!" It looked just like him... same color, size, bad behaviour in the car... etc... Anyway, I gestured for the lady to roll down her window and told her that. I asked what her dog's name was and can you believe, she said it was "BUDDY"... Wow!!!! He's a little taller, and not quite as muscular and about a year old... must be from the same family though..

Which reminds me I heard a song on the radio today by Dean Brodie called, "She's Your Cousin"... it's about a young couple who go parking and his Dad jumps out of the bushes and says, Hands in the air, Don't touch her, she's your cousin" and then tells the rest of the story including... "you don't want to swim in that gene pool" It was pretty funny.

While I was at the library, they had a book sale... I saw Presumed Innocent there for 50 cents. I am currently the sequel to that book, it was written 20 years later. I almost bought it, but what do I need more books for? And besides I am 3/4 finished the sequel now anyway. Also, we went to Value Village and I only bought a pr. of shoes to replace the ones Buddy chewed up, and a top. It was 25% off today if you bought 5 or more things... I did look at books, but at least I was able to resist that temptation...

Well, just found out a little while ago that my sister is driving in from Halifax tomorrow. She's booked a hotel, but she asked if I am coming into town, but I didn't have any plans made yet.. but she's at a hotel with a pool, so I will definitely have to visit here there... I so need a swim. It rained so bad today, I could have been swimming in the streets almost... I did bring my swim stuff with me, but I haven't figured out what to do with Dave and Flo while I swim yet.... But, my arms, shoulders really need to swim.

I enjoyed that peek into your world. You Buddy sounds cute as can be & it was interesting about seeing the other Buddy like that.

I have a hard time resisting books, too. I got that from my precious Mom, don't you know? She cannot resist books & has bookcases in every available place in their home.

It is a blessing for us both that the good Lord gave us husbands who are great at building bookcases to order. emoticon

    God bless!

I've been hitting up the books on sale myself. Had to organize them yesterday. Glad you had a good day and that you found some interesting things to do.
