Thought and Prayer for Sunday, June 9, 2013

Sunday, June 09, 2013

Many of us don’t want to share our stories about the bad things that happened to us because we are embarrassed or regret what we did. However, the stories we have about our sorrow in life due to situations beyond our control or due to temptations are stories that can help others. When we share the situation, our actions and how God helped us, we are helping others to learn about God, how He helped us and how He can help them, too.

2 Corinthians 7:10 “For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we thank You for our stories and our opportunities to learn and to share. We know when we take time to share our struggles, our temptations and our outcomes You are allowing us to help others. We don’t always know who we help but we do know You intended for us to share our stories just as You shared Your word with us. Give us strength, courage and wisdom today to recall what we have learned through struggles and temptations and share these learnings with others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God allows us to experience things so we can learn, but also so we can share our experiences with others.

Knowing God has a plan and wants us to live our lives for Him also means we are to share all the wonderful things He has done for us.

We can get into situations that are not pleasant. Sometimes through temptation and sometimes through situations beyond our control. These times are meant for us to learn, grow and share with others.

Things happen for a reason. We are to share that reason with others so we can lead by example.

When we take time to share a situation in our lives with others where God helped us through, we are letting them know God can help them through their situation as well.

God shares His stories with us about how people experienced His wonderful goodness. We should do the same telling others how God has worked in our lives.

Psalm 145:7 “Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness.” (NLT)
