Hmm...a few days slip by and that seems an eternity. While I was not happy for the piece of metal the size of a small butterknife piercing my tire...I did get the situation resolved and I am home today where much needs to be done and I can go at my own pace.
Yesterday morning and last night I was uneasily aware that my big dog was not coming around for dinner...I thought I heard his tags under the house. Sure enough this morning I saw where one of the doors under the house had come open and he was under the back porch. I took a door off and let him out. He was happy to get breakfast.
The previous evening when I arrived home from wrestling with the tire and spare and gridlock traffic I checked the guinea nest...all the eggs were broken and empty except two...again it was too dark to go inspecting. This morning I spotted my guinea family. When my guinea girl stood up a troupe of striped chicks scattered from under her feathers like an antebellum petticoat...very impressive.
Aside from all that I am restoring order from the insidious increase of rats. Not to offend the rat owning public...they are nice creatures as are field mice...and in the field I have no quibble with them. I just don't care for the damage they can do to a dwelling so I use rat zappers which are quick and clean to dispense of them. This just has to be monitored diligently. When I injured my knee I could not check the traps. At present I have trapped 34 since Sunday. I do research to understand the life cycle of the rat. It is really quite interesting and like most entities in nature they have an order and hierarchy.
Anyway...just a quick check in and back to the situation at hand.
