Ms. Smarty Scale OUT, Ms. Standby Scale IN -----> YIKES!

Friday, June 07, 2013

So I've been going scale-less for a week now. emoticon

I've given up on my Ms. Smarty Scale - I can't find any instructions anywhere and she keeps telling me I'm 'OVERWEIGHT'. Ya THINK I don't know that????! emoticon

Doing laundry, I 'found' my way old scale (before Ms. Smarty). At first I was emoticon now I don't have to spend $ on a new scale!!!!

Then I stepped on my Ms. Standby emoticon YIKES!!!! 212?????! Could I have GAINED 7 lbs in a week????! emoticon

My logical mind says probably not. While I'm in that space, I DID have to admit to myself that I've gotten far away from my 'success routine' and using my tools. SIGH. I HATE it when I have to admit that stuff to myself!!!! emoticon

So immediately today I'm consciously re-instituting my success routine. emoticon

I got my Blue Book back out and am logging my food/calories/protein. (It's REALLY been a MONTH since I last logged????!!!) I wil model my eating today after past log entries. (The 'good' ones! :))

I will schedule a walk into my work calendar and TAKE IT. Luckily, yesterday I made a big pot of chili and have all my go-to foods in the house.

Doing all this feels 'right' and makes me feel good and have a positive outlook.

    oh scales, I hate 'em

i am glad you are getting back on track with the calorie counting, those HEALTHY actions are bound to make you feel just as good, or better, than any ol' number on the scale

The 7 pounds could just be your scale... I want a new scale, but I am afraid to get one because I don't want it to weigh more than the one I already have... lol

Tracking plays such a vital role in this journey. I still track 95% of the time. A few days may slip by here and there, but it is unusual.

You are doing such a fantastic job!

    Keep up the awesome work!

I think the Smarty pants scale needs the boot out the door. We have two electronic scales now (long story) and one weighs me lighter then the other. I don't worry as much about the scale now but in my tracking. Just keep taking those small steps forward. emoticon

make sure your scale is accurate by placing something you know the weight of - like a 5 pound weight. Most scales (old ones) have a dial in the front you can move to make sure the scale numbers match the weight. So put the five pound weight on it, move the dial until it says five and then you know the weight is accurate.

I changed my scale too, and I'm trying to limit weigh-ins to 1-2 times a week. I want to weigh myself every day but it makes me crazy. Good for you for logging your food and scheduling the exercise...definitely on track for success this week!

Usually smarty-pants electronics have their instruction books online. Have you googled it?

I stopped weighing myself because the uncertainty of the scale made me CRAZY!

Unfortunately, accuracy varies from scale to scale. Hopefully you didn't toss the instructions and they'll show up one day, or perhaps you can find the website for the brand and find the instructions for your particular model?

Hopefully tracking again will get you back on track!

I am so rooting for you, PATTI!
I hate scale changes, it always throws you off.
    Hang in there!

Sorry you couldn't find instructions for your new scale....and how about that old scale...is that why you replaced it? Doesn't really matter. YOU have the map to get back on track and YOU can do this. Going back to basics is how I always "re-start" after slipping up for any length of time. Have a successful day and a super weekend. emoticon
