What to do?

With my history of foot and ankle issues, it's been very frustrating trying to decide if I should resume C25K with my mildly sore foot. The pain is near the top of the left foot, and depending on the day, sometimes the left side hurts, and sometimes the right side hurts. Movement doesn't change the pain - it's just there most of the time. At this point, I'm getting anxious to go out and try to run again. Then, I can just plan to ice my foot/ankle when I get back. I haven't been able to even determine if the pain is from my foot, or from my ankle. It's so annoying.
Yesterday was the first day in a few weeks that I didn't do anything, other than walk around the lake. Even though it's cloudy and a little chilly, I'm dying to be outside again.
Part of me worries that if I don't start again soon, I'll just give up and decide yet again that I was never meant to be a runner. That's what I've been told for years, and I want to prove everyone wrong.
I wish my foot/ankle would heal :(
