Walking with my daughters

I have found a better more healthy family tradition for those drama moments with my girls. Last night my teen girls tried out for next falls cheerleading squad. One girl Melissa made the squad and my older girl Elizabeth didn't. This has been very hard on Elizabeth. When I was her age or younger is when I first turned to food in moments like these. Instead of suggesting comfort food we have been on one long talking walk last night and 2 more today. My daughter and I have become fitter, became closer, and she is learning to deal with teen angst in a more healthy way then I did. Now my other 2 daughters want to walk with me too. I think for the undivided attention. Its a win win because the walking helps my back and gives me exercise while I give all 3 of my daughters quality time. So far today my step count is over 12,000. I was so busy talking to my daughter it didn't feel like exercise. The next time I 'm upset I may try the walking cure myself. Elizabeth is certainly doing better today.
