10 foods to help ward off depression

Thursday, June 06, 2013

Here's the short article:

Here's the tl;dr version:

1. Smart carbohydrates
2. Vitamin C
3. Vitamin B6 for selenium (beans, peas, fish, eggs)
4. Vitamin E (nuts, chickpeas, eggs with yolk)
5. Vitamin D (eggs, dairy)
6. Omega 3 (flaxseeds, chia seeds, nuts, dark green leafy veggies)
7. Protein
8. Antioxidants (berries, tomato. broccoli, peppers)
9. Whole grains
10. Water!

That's one more great reason to nourish our bodies with the best healthy fare rather than junk food. Sometimes I think I want a greasy cheeseburger or a load of bad chocolate to make myself feel better. Turns out quality food is better for depression.
