Grandma's memories

Wednesday, June 05, 2013

Grandmothers and grandfathers are special. They don't yell at you, if you do something wrong. You can never stress them out because they long to be with their grandchildren.
You often wonder, as children grow, if they will remember the things grandparents do with them.

I enjoy my grandkids. They take turns for sleep overs, yet they are not little ones, one is ll and another l4. We bake and cook together. We watch movies of when they were little and talk about things they did in school, their friends, their ambition. They seem to want to be one thing one time and then change to another, when you see them again.

I feel sorry for grandparents who's grandkids live far away and they do not get the chance to see them grow. I am fortunate mine are only l5 min away and altho I do not see them often because they have their own friends and sleep overs, I look forward to when they find time to spend their moments with me.

Being a grandparent is a wonderful time of life. It is a time when you do not have to worry about raising a child anymore, but can enjoy grandchildren as they grow because they go home to their parents. LOL

I started to babysit when I turned 66 and my hours were fro 7 to 5. I enjoyed dressing my granddaughter, even though she loved taking off her shoes and socks, when we went strolling in the mall and I had to go back and get them while dh stayed with her in the carriage. Then 3 years after my grandson came along. We had our hands full but we enjoyed every moment of it.

I look forward to the next sleep over when we will look at more baby pictures and I will see the smiles on their faces when they see the things they used to do when they were little.
I already have the bread sticks, muffins, pizza, etc. waiting for them to bake. I have made a cookbook for my granddaughter because she has cooked chicken, meatloaf, beef stew, pizza, and baked muffins and bread sticks and they both made cookies from dough.

Grandkids make your life and bring smiles into it. Only problem is they grow too fast and we get old. LOL
