BLC 22- What I am doing today for this round

Wednesday, June 05, 2013

It's here.

June 5th! The start of BLC 22.

Why am I excited? If you have never done BLC before and are joining us this round, you should be crazy excited, because this is a weight loss support that can get results if you put in the effort. Over the last year, I have lost most of my weight while in BLC rounds 19, 20 and 21. I started January 2012 just shy of 200 pounds - only 4 pounds lighter than what I went to the hospital with to deliver my 7 pound baby who was then a year old. It was time to get moving downward. And downward I've gone! Quite well, thanks to BLC.

BLC 22 will be the round I hit my first final weight loss goal of 135.

This goal has been readjusted to 125 as I have gotten closer to my initial goal. However, that final number remains in a flux state as I want to stay realistic as well.

So why am I REALLY excited? Because when I start up a BLC round, I know it's not a matter of IF I will lose weight, but a matter how of much. Can you approach your BLC round with that sort of enthusiasm and certainty? If not, you need to readjust how committed you are to doing what it takes to lose the weight and getting in shape. It is ALL about self discipline, self control. The BLC provides the BEST accountability but if you're not going to put in your full hearted effort, you will fail yourself, not BLC.

I had a 3 pound gain during the 8 week break during BLC rounds. I'm okay with this because while I still exercised and aate basically right , I allowed myself some splurging this last week before BLC started up again. I have consistently lost my gains during break and then more so during rounds.

So starting today - what will I do to get out of maintenance mode for break and into active mode for round?

1) Exercise more. 45 minimum a day
Under this heading, I will finally step up and do my strength training on a regular basis. I will be relying on DVD's with handweights/resistance bands for this.
I will continue to treadmill/bike and run, moving forward to continuing doing races like I started doing last year

2) Tracking
This slacks off during break and I'm good with that, but to get tried and true weight loss, I need to track. This keeps me from mindlessly snacking and adding calories I don't even realize I'm doing.

3) Accountability
With my Sapphire soldiers. Daily check in into the thread, participating in ALL the challenges given even if I can't always do 100%, I can always be 100% participating.

4) New recipes
I found this break I got into a food rut and by trying new recipes and things to cook, not only could I get excited about what I was eating, I could find joy in healthier recipes. It inspired me to keep trying for new things, new foods and new ideas. New foods help me keep from a 'diet' mentality.

So how did I start off today?
1) I made breakfast - 2 eggs with a sprinkle of cheese. I had my coffee and 24 ounces of water
2) I have a plan for working out to a DVD immediately after I get home from work - this is doable with my small children as often they just gallop around me or try to mimic what I'm doing and better yet, doesn't require child care for me to go out and do
I will do my TNT today, not tomorrow to stay ahead of the game!
3) Lunch is planned out and I will not eat more than what I already packed
4) Dinner and snack are also planned out and I will stick to what I have planned despite any Cheetos calling to me later.
5) No sugary snacks today.

I have weighed in - I will take before pictures and measurements so I can have some non scale victories as the months in BLC go onward.

I am prepared and I will succeed because I have a plan in place.

And because BLC always kicks my butt. Go Sapphires!

    Go Sapphires.

I'm new to BLC this round. I have to say, I did a sneak peak at some of the other teams chats, and I'm really glad i was chosen for the Sapphires. They require a lot, but that is great. No time for procrastination.

Also - there is a book, Body by you. Great body weight, progressive, strength training exercises do to at home.
