"Smile for the Camera..." or not....

Pictures.... some can make us look great while others make us cringe. I had a cringing moment this morning as my neighbor sent me a picture text. I was goofing around in the picture and my pose was not very flattering. I took one glance and went,

"UGH.... I look so horrible"!

I then started to get down on myself. Negative thoughts in my head telling me that I need to do better. I look disgusting.... still too much fat on my body. Interesting how one little picture can do that to you.

Previously to this picture I was actually feeling pretty good about myself. I had recently went clothes shopping and have some new outfits. I have been working out hard so I was actually feeling a little skinny. You know the feeling.... you work out hard, eat right, so inside you feel skinny. Well that is how I have been feeling, skinny. But after seeing this picture now I have those bad thoughts back.

I need to get back to feeling better about myself. One little picture can't or won't bring me down. I am going to eat healthy today, get in my workout, and smile! Because no matter what I am a beautiful person and I need to remember that.

Diamond girl, I get it, ask how many family pics there are of me. Yep that many, the camera came out and I went away! It is just know getting to a place that I allow some to be taken! You look wonderful and you have made amazing changes! You inspire us all! Don't ever forget just how much you dazzle!

I agree with you - I hate photographs. I am not comfortable with photos of myself and it shows. Very rarely am I happy with the results. Ignore that photo!

I can relate to the "feeling skinny." I thought I was the only one who felt that way. It's particularly when my muscles are sore from a hard workout.

I've had similar "oh no I look gross" most recent was catching my reflection in a mirror at an unflattering angle.

This is so me. I'll always volunteer to be the photographer so I can avoid being in the pictures. Ug.

You are a beautiful person--believe in yourself and the power of change. You can do this...I think most women hate having their photo taken...I know I do. But it's a chance to capture a great memory...I'm starting to put that desire ahead of the desire to hide behind the camera...

Way to bounce back from the negatives and remember what really matters! Life is so much more than pictures, even when those moments make us cringe.

been there! I agree with MyLady4 - Pink's song is awesome and so true! But a picture never truly defines you or anyone else. You know that you are strong, happy and beautiful! Glad you were able to turn those negative thoughts into positive!

Your right, sometimes it only takes one picture to ruin a lot of the positive work we have put in. You have a great attitude, keep up with the great work you have been doing.
Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day!

You absolutely are a beautiful person! I think we all know what you mean about pictures bringing you down. My boss to a picture of our department and it is possibly the least flattering pic I have ever taken. To make it worse she uses it as a screen saver so I see it every time I go to her office. Blah! But you are the skinny are doing everything you need to look AND FEEL your best. Be proud! You are BEAUTIFUL!
