Ready made food

Monday, June 03, 2013

They are so easy to make but yet I bought them ready-made yesterday.... chicken skewers (?) can´t find if it is the correct name this is what they look like:

I was late from work as I have a lot to do and really hungry as I entered the food store and knew I was in trouble. But I bought those skewers for daughter the other day when she was going to help with a work shop all day and I suddenly realised that it would be smart to buy them for myself as they are healthy in coparision to what I would buy otherwise. The miser in me thinks it is too expensive to let the shop do the cooking that is so easy to do yourself, but the overeater is happy because I get food really fast when I come home. Had planned to do two ten minutes decluttering, only managed one, too tired, that´s okay twenty minutes in a day is surely better than none.

The paper is coming along nicely, wrote three long articles and a lot of short stuff yesterday, one long article left and then small stuff...doing an interview this morning and before that I am going swimming. Theatre tonight.

That sounds like a smart choice of food. I struggle with the idea of extravagance, but I need to balance the cost of my time and the likelihood that I'll make a worse choice for my health while pinching pennies.

I try to balance the ready made and the made from scratch stuff. i am still learning how to make some things efficiently without trashing my kitchen.

This turned out so much better than I expected from the title. Chicken skewers were a great choice! Most prepared foods are not. Sounds like your day and week are going well. Be happy, be healthy.

When I'm hungry and over-busy - as you plainly are right now - I often do exactly this. I agree that whilst it's somehow extravagant to buy ready-made food it's so often the better option when it can satisfy the appetite before the chance to binge raises it's head.
My other option is my slow cooker - as long as I have time to set it up. I try to leave soup or ratatouille in it for when I get home - or indeed stew, tho that takes longer to prepare.
Well done for making the choice that avoided the diet dangers. Looks good in the pic and hope you enjoyed it.

Glad the paper is coming along well. Enjoy your swim - and the theatre. Try and give yourself a break for rest-time too.
