Right-o, so this weekend was exhausting (in a good way).
I wonder if you can count it as exercise if you stood and walked a lot (~7 hours?) but didn't go very far? If so, holy crap! Maybe I didn't blow my food intake :P
This weekend was Ottawa doors open. At the drinking water plant we had over 2700 visitors in 2 days (oof!). I was the self-appointed tour coordinator (I did things like limiting the number of participants per group, making sure the guides ate and poking them when they talked to long, and trying to keep the chaos to a minimum (here's why):
So anyhoo, smartypants thought it would be a good idea to climb BOTH Thursday and Friday (because, well, I OBVIOUSLY couldn't climb on Sunday due to working all day AND softball...). Saturday morning I was SORE. Of course, whenever I go to a gym other than my own (Friday I went to Coyote), I'm sore because I'm working on new routes that I'm not familiar with. Add that to the 2 days in a row, and my upper body had good reason to be sore!
Why my knee hurt, I don't know. On Friday night at the DYP (draw your partner Foosball event) my knees were aching by the end of the night. I wasn't sure why, but I wasn't too concerned. Saturday, but the end of the day I was still sore, but it wasn't bad enough to worry me. Sunday morning around 7 I actually woke myself up rolling over. My left knee (the one with a history of skating injuries) was afire! So -- knowing I'd be on my feet most of the day -- I dug out my old knee brace. I'm glad I did: it helped a lot (when I got home around 5 I was really ready to give in anyway, though). I pulled it off when I got home and took a nap, worried that I'd be tired for softball AND injured. Fortunately, though, after my nap, my knee was no longer hurting. I was still tired and vaguely nauseas (common symptoms of me napping), but not hurting.
Pitching softball went well (walked 3 people, struck 3 out), but I was having trouble running (legs were just too tired, I guess). Ah well, we lost, but only in the last inning. Too bad! It was a close game!
Today: Make my first venture into weight training over lunch, PICK UP MY FIRST GREEN BOX OF LOCALLY FARMED VEGGIES! YAY! I'm really excited to see what I get :) Then head to Belly Dancing (no walking there this week: picking up my veggies would probably make me late)
Tomorrow: Climbing and then D&D (same old, same old: good thing I love it!)
Wednesday: Softball practice (we've had 3 games, now's about the time we should hold our first practice, right?)
Thursday: rest, relaxation, and pub night :) (or, depending on the Boy, climbing instead of Friday)
Friday: climbing, the Boy (he gets back from Toronto this evening), and karaoke!
Saturday: Pho with a friend I rarely see, then maybe the afternoon with her, followed by a friend's birthday for dinner :)
Sunday: climbing, then softball drills followed by a softball game!
My knees don't hurt today

I'm finally getting a handle on the shampooless thing - WAY less baking soda, more vinegar - so my hair isn't "crunchy" now... still looking for balance
I've gotten my sister hooked on my favourite author's newest series (next book coming out in OCTOBER? WHY SO FAR AWAY?), and she's thinking about borrowing the whole set set in that world from start to finish
