When I started my weight loss journey, I began to think...hmmm, my oldest daughter (17) is very slim while the rest of us struggle with our weight. She isn't more active and she eats at home...what's her secret? So I observed her eating habits and talked with her. She is pretty adamant about avoiding artificial foods. So much so that her friends call her candy, because she won't eat any. Not that she doesn't enjoy sweets, she just wants them made only with the ingredients, butter, eggs, sugar, etc. Not boxed cake mixes.
So I researched that line of thinking and found that it is not just imaginary. Apparently, when you eat a bunch of artificial or chemically enhanced foods, you don't feel satisfied. Your body does not recognize these things as food and even makes you hungry because it expects that you just ate!
Wow! Makes total sense! We are now more cautious of what we eat and I have even begun making my own bread and even hamburger buns. You know what?!! It's true! I seem to be much more satisfied with less as long as it is fresh and home made!
