Wrapping Up May

Well, it’s time to see how I did with my May goals.

1. Do a minimum of 1250 minutes of exercise
May was a pretty good month for me. I got in 1402.5 minutes of exercise. I was kind of impressed with that because I was on the road for the first couple of days and there was a major holiday in there too. It was almost impossible to get any exercise in while on the road because we were traveling 15-16 hours a day. The holiday worried me because I don’t do well on the weekends when it comes to exercise. But I did it!! My walking buddy and I worked out consistently during our 4-day work week. Plus I started doing a few workouts with my resistance bands at home.

2. Lose 6 pounds
I did and didn’t meet this goal, depending on how I want to look at it. I took a very spur-of-the-moment trip at the beginning of the month. A friend and I drove across the country and back in seven days, a number of those days were 12 hours in the car. I didn’t plan for the trip, ate poorly while on the road, and didn’t get to work out those days I was in the car. So, during that trip I gained 4 pounds from the last time I’d weighed myself, which wasn’t unexpected (due to lack of planning) but still totally pissed me off. However, since I got back I have lost more than 6 pounds. It makes me wonder where I’d be if I had planned better for my trip.

3. Walk a 5K, at least virtually
I actually walked two 5Ks this month. The first was on 5/17, I took almost 9 ½ minutes off my time. The second was on 5/30, I kicked up the speed and did it on the random incline setting. I’m feeling good about the 5Ks!! I may start training for a 10K.

4. Walk 50 miles, that includes the treadmill, walking videos, and outside walks
I walked just short of 51 miles. I have to think about what my goal is going to be for next month.

5. Be more consistent in writing my blog
This was kind of hit and miss. I posted more than I did in April but not as much I had originally planned. I’ll see what it looks like in the coming months.

6. Get my BFF to finally enroll in SP and get back on track with her “Being Healthy” journey
I didn’t get my friend enrolled in SparkPeople. I have her interested because she has been gaining weight recently and she doesn’t want to put on what Weight Watchers helped her take off. So, I’m going to work harder in June to get her signed up and working on it.

7. Complete a Vision Collage and put it up in the house
Well, I didn’t get the Vision Collage completed but I have all the makings, just need to put it together. Procrastination is one of my middle names.
