Saturday mid day...accomplishment

The 120ft by 320ft dressage arena is walk behind mower...yes, self propelled but I have to propel myself and direct the mower and by calculations I have done roughly 7000 steps for my 5' 2" frame...approx. 50 lines of 125 plus steps...and an aside to finish mowing the croquet field (wonderful for big circles...esp with the mini horse)...I coaxed myself by saying "I will take a break when it runs out of gasoline"...ha, it still hasn't run out of gas. The problem this morning is that I realize the commercial mower needs the gasoline filter changed...I figured the I have to get the right tools and instructions to change it...figured I would rather just do the needed work the hard way rather than waste time looking for is done and I got lots of exercise in...sweaty, dusty, my left heel stings and a couple of toes were wearing to blisters...the feet are much better with my shoes off and a hot bath will take care of the rest. I am very pleased that I have the work areas ready for when my trainer comes out to work with me and the ponies in the next couple of weeks. I would like the trails mowed as well and I will probably do at least a walking path before I get the big mower fixed but that entails miles of footage by the time it is mowed to a 12 foot width....probably not up to that
I suggested to Mom that we check out the new Collin Street Bakery which has opened here in Greenville. Mary of Pudding Hill has closed and her competition is making it's debut in this town. The building is a large, gleaming white colonial structure...very impressive...just the kind of thing Mom will find entrancing. I have another 5 hours.

i wish i had an arena to mow emoticon but, at least i have lots of arenas to use in the neighborhood. i have been working my horse and pony in the paddock, which is about the size of a large roundpen (but square). i have a pretty small place, so, we usually have to go elsewhere for our exercise and entertainment.
but, at least i get to keep my horses at home, i don't have to board them out.

Wow, I read "dressage" and all my memories came flooding back! Oh how I miss horseback riding! I took dressage lessons for 6-7 years and it was one of my favorite disciplines as an equestrian. The bakery sounded like fun too!

Oh I miss playing croquet...but I'm 5'8" (but smaller than small frame) and would prefer longer handled mallets LOL.

I'm house and dog sitting for my oldest daughter and her husband (no, they took the baby with...ahem.) And yet, with all the rains the backyard needed mown, and you can't come home from vacation to that mess! I tried starting up the mower...It would start then die. Numerous times I tried. Then the plug in weed eater, to no avail. Finally a little Roby...and got her done! It was a definite sense of accomplishment. I can imagine how multiplying that a few times over for you would feel (should I complain of my one little blister :) )

What gorgeous things at the bakery? I love swan cream puffs filled with real whipped cream or bavarian cream. Or fruit and flan tarts....
