Going Scale-Less! Yikes!!!

Saturday, June 01, 2013

I have this really neat electronic glass scale. We have been friends for the past 8 months - only when the numbers go down tho! emoticon

I weigh myself every morning. When the numbers go down, YAY! I'm motivated to keep on keepin' on. When the numbers go up, I get on my horse and do something different - go back to food basics and step up my activities.

Yesterday, I got on the scale and we were at 205. YAY since my high weight was 296. Not-so-yay, cuz I've been here for a LOOOOONg while. But since my weight seems to be shifting around and my clothes are fitting better, I wasn't sweating the numbers.

My youngest dd noticed the number on the scale and was really supportive and complimentary. Now coming from a totally self-centered 6th grade middle-schooler, having her attention and approval for even a micro-second is a REAL ACCOMPLISHMENT! emoticon

Fast forward to the next morning. I step on my friend, Ms. Scale. Who is now no longer my friend cuz instead of seeing a number I expected, I saw the word "OVERWEIGHT" flashing in my face. emoticon

Now I knew that Ms. Scale has wonderfully technological abilities in her secret electronic brain, but I chose not to try to figure out all those programming features and to just stick to the basic truth. Number of Pounds.

Altho no one in my family will admit it, SOMEONE played around with the programming settings on my scale! ARGH!!!!!!!! emoticon

I can't figure out how to re-set it, my dh gave up after 30 min of tinkering. I've removed the battery for a long time to see if it will 'automatically' re-set. Still no numbers - only 'OVERWEIGHT' emoticon

So for the past 2 days, I've been having scale-withdrawal. I'm wearing my smallest shorts comfortably (size 14 - from TIGHT 24W), so I'm not in full anxiety mode. If I can't figure her out in the next couple of days, Ms. Scale will be donated and passed on to someone more technologically savvy than I.

Altho I'd much rather spend $ on new cute smaller outfits, I will make the investment in a new tool that will help me stay on track. emoticon

Like the $ I spend on my HOT skinny mocha coffee drinks (now mostly homemade, but occasionally from SB), my periodic pedicures, hair cuts with highlighing, it's WORTH it to help me on my journey.

I'M WORTH IT!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Ohh, I need one of those scales!! I want the one that measures water, body fat, done density and stuff...

I hope you can get it fixed. Check online for your scales model and see if you can find the owners manual, or get help directly from the manufacture.

    best of luck

OH Yes! You know, Ms scale did not say OBESE, like mine would have. I can't wait to be overweight.
Hate it when my family do that with my things! That is why I hide almost everything I don't want my toddlers to play with.
I bet you DD will be able to fix it. The young ones are usually very tech savvy!

Have you tried emailing the company or calling them with your problem? You are having scale with drawl. Check your local thrift store as there must have been at least a half dozen of them sitting waiting to do to someones home. emoticon On the weight loss. emoticon

Not sure what kind of scale you have, but perhaps you can get on line and get some instructions for how to change it back. I have done this with other items and was quite successful in finding info. I commend you for not letting this really get you down. YOU are doing a magnificent job on your journey and letting that pesky scale win is not the way to move forward. Have a great healthy weekend. emoticon

Perhaps it got scared when you went from Obese to only Overweight and won't let you know that you're really that skinny! I hope you find the user manual to get it to show numbers again. Keep up that good work!
