HIIT By a Truck

Monday, May 27, 2013

Yesterday I took a HIIT class at my gym (that's High Intensity Interval Training, FYI). I figured it'd be like boot camp, and since I haven't taken boot camp in a couple of years now I figured it'd be horrific (in that oddly good way). :)

It was. I was actually pretty impressed with myself for keeping up with everyone else. I asked the woman in front of me if I was going to die and she stressed that I should pace myself and she'd been coming forever and still had to make an effort to pace herself to make it through the whole class. I sometimes wrongly assume that just because someone is thin, she's in great shape and in reality sometimes that is not the case. She may have been half my size, but halfway through the class she was leaning up against the wall taking a break and I was still going for it. Go me!

Today HOLY CRAP I AM SORE. hahahaha Sheesh. OK so sure I managed to make it through the whole hour, but I'm not the rock star I thought I was. :)

I went for a short walk today to loosen up a bit and I'll be back at it tomorrow. I'm meeting a new running group after work, so I hope I can keep up with them!

Feels good to have all this exercise planned. I'm happy to be back on track and I'm sure the scale is going to catch up any minute now. RIIIIIGHT?

My quads are SUPER sore today - I wrote myself an awesome lower body ST program, but it may have been *too* awesome?!?

I'm checking out the classes at my new gym - you inspired me to try lots of them, even the ones I wouldn't typically gravitate toward.

Im with you on all that exercise. Im like a bear with a sore head right now because Ive not been able to go back to boot camp for a week due to a chest cold. I cant wait to start up but I know its going to hurt like heck, I also know I will have lost any pretexts to fitness I hoo....but it will be worth it getting back on track. Soooo jealous of you right now.

That is one fun thing about group classes, you get to see how to you compare to others in terms of fitness, and sometimes it is surprising. There was a new, very fit looking girl in our class today but she had to take frequent breaks as we were just getting warmed up. Looks can be deceiving and it goes both ways!
