I was REALLY looking forward to some mountain biking today! I mean, it's a holiday -- no time constraints! The monkey wrench was some friends calling to say, "Hey, let's run a new trail this morning!" I agreed, with the understanding that it was a five-mile loop. I knew it would be tough, but I figured I could run 5 miles and be recovered enough by afternoon to hop on the bike.

Except it was an EIGHT-mile loop!! Holy smokes. I am definitely not getting on the bike now, since my legs are fatigued walking through the grocery store. I laid as much guilt on them as I could, but you know how it is: I was really grumpy at 6:30am, but after 80 minutes of running, we all had that old runner's high and were in a great mood. My guilt trip wasn't really effective at that point.

BTW, I had Fish Stew for lunch... it's a SparkPeople recipe and is really delicious. My husband won't touch it (not that he's ever tried it), and I'll admit it sounds icky... but it is yummy! I made enough for lunch tomorrow, too. (If you look it up, it has ground almonds -- which I got by putting almonds in the coffee grinder!)

My poor legs could really use a nap, but I'm trying to hold out until a reasonable hour to go to bed. I might go to a MTB race Wednesday and see if I want to start racing again. I would have loved to be a professional athlete, and bike races are probably the closest I'll ever get.
