the more we lose the war.
in reading today's insider feature about knee and joint pain - it strikes me for all of our knowledge on kinesiology, physiology, drugs, diet, and exercise in general - there are more of us suffering from maladies that have no cure. we are at the mercy of the foods that are 'developed' for us to eat - (not Mother Nature's wisdom but MONSANTO as an example), GMO's - FRANKENFOODS - we are not even aware because the game keeps changing.
i grow what i can in the good weather, i buy as fresh/frozen as possible - try to eat as close to raw, wash my veggies in a mild vegetable wash or peel skins if too contaminated - and still the wrath of fibromyalgia, RA and a wonky thyroid plague me and millions of others who suffer even more unmentionable pain.
i have stretched and done pilates and yoga since i was a young teenager - long before it was the 'thing to do'.
exercising - all kinds of organized and impromptu classes to keep limber - and yet we are all losing.
i know for a fact that 'stair stepping ' classes for 20 years did a lot more HARM than they did GOOD for my leg joints. so now i stick to walking whenever and how ever i can.
for me - i started to employ more of my own common sense than all the advice given in books, self help gurus on TV, driving myself crazy with medical articles and so on.
NOW MY CRITERIA is - 'if it hurts don't push it' and have to be satisfied with that. just live life the best way that is for you - if you are still lucky enough to swing from a tree limb - GOD BLESS YOU (just don't fall) but if all you can do some days is enjoy a cup of tea on the deck and watch your little children (or in my case - critters) playing - then you are doing what the Good Lord meant.
let's not try to get too smart - we cannot win this war - just enjoy and survive on a daily basis. cheers - BB

Hey, my husband and I are reminded on a daily basis that we can't do what we used to do............or, at the least, can't do it to the same extent we used to be able to do it. Life is short..........do what you can and enjoy as much as you can.
