Spark Solution Challenge: Day 14

Insider tip: Never Give Up!!

Don't give up on yourself. None of us is perfect, and everyday we must challenge ourselves. This doesn't mean we don't have failures; it just means we pick ourselves up and keep going without regrets.

Mind-set Makeover: Use rest days to de-stress.

Read a book, take a bubble bath, call a friend - anything that helps you deal with stress. (though exercise is a great stress reliever, don't skimp on your rest.)

Metabolic Makeover: Choose your eating environment carefully.

A quiet atmosphere can assist in weight loss. Tonight at dinner, see what happens when it's just you, you fellow dining partners and the food.

Spark Coach challenge: Treat Yourself to the Top

Today's challenge will either make you excited--or anxious--depending on your habits and your personality. Today I challenge you to eat at the TOP of your SparkPeople calorie range. Many members feel as if they need to eat below or at the very bottom of their range all the time, but this couldn't be farther from the case. Your range allows for flexibility while still keeping your calories controlled enough to reach your goals.

If you typically eat at the bottom and obsess over every calorie, this might be a tough challenge for you to "let go" of that control. But in the end, it will help you learn that a little flexibility in your diet plan can be a good thing--and won't result in weight gain.

If you typically fluctuate within your range day to day, setting a more specific goal like your max calorie limit (no more, no less) might take more time and attention, so it'll be good for you to focus.

If you use your range as it's generally intended, as a way to "bank" calories or plan for future splurges, then use today as a bit of a "splurge" day. Enjoy a treat or a higher-calorie favorite that you've been limiting--just keep yourself within your range.

Today's challenge should be fun! Remember, a healthy diet is one that you can live with for the rest of your life. It's about balance, freedom and moderation to enjoy a variety of foods. You can do this! Until next time, keep sparking!
