Why cant we trade in family, when we can choose our friends

I was so looking forward to this weekend, but its not turning out at all the way I had hoped. My step son and his fiancee had brought the their baby home for the long weekend and graduation party for my nephew. Mind you, my husband and I had not gotten the priviledge of keeping the baby over yet we can keep their dogs for days. So I actually got to see my grandson from a distance most of the evening last night since my pleasant sister-in-law decided that she ruled roost when it came to be baby so FINALLY at 9:30 last night, the kids made their appearance much to my pleasure. Rough night, he didnt sleep good, but then again, he's 3 months old, he's allowed. So my husband and step kids went fishing so they left early, which left baby's momma and myself here at home. COOL baby time right, NOPE not so much, she was out the door by 10am. BUT hey I get to dog sit yet another weekend, sure glad I can handle that.

Sorry, don’t know...but wish family would support me as I have supported them.

They will come to you when they need you. Some new parents are hesitant to leave their newborn as it may seem as an inconvenience to you. Be available when they're ready. It's great that you did have some quality time. Sometimes, things don't go the way we planned however, we should be thankful for the time/s we have! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I have a similar situation with my grandson--he lives 5 minutes from his other grandparents and 3500 miles from me. When I visited recently, I had to be consciously careful about going too fast and I did have a nice visit. You have got to chill, especially if this is a first baby.
