Sometimes you win, sometimes not

I rode my bike to work today. This is a huge victory because the last FOUR times I've planned to do it, it has been cold and snowed, rained, or my schedule has changed so I couldn't manage the time. It was raining this morning, but I still set off on my adventure. (Truth be told, I went 1/2 mile and turned around because it was raining so hard -- it sucked! But I went home and looked at the radar on the Weather Channel and waited it out. Much flexibility in my schedule today!)

I hardly feel like I did a workout but it was 16 miles. (It's supposed to be 12, I thought, but I took a wrong turn.) Unfortunately, it was all downhill -- I had really forgotten HOW downhill -- so it's going to be a total drag to get home. I'm hoping I'm not totally smoked, so I can maybe do some strength training or something.

My eating lately has been terrible. I have been trying to focus on the "why" rather than the action itself, and I think this has caused me to be less restrictive of the calories. I have to change that. A good long weekend should give me some time to plan, and I need to start implementing the strategies to avoid my emotional eating. Sadly, I already failed this morning... but I have a good 12 hours left in the day to succeed.

    24 miles on a bicycle, even if half of them are downhill, sounds like a major workout.
