Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, May 22, 2013

It is so easy to recognize the idols or things others seem to put before God. We are usually better at determining what other people are doing wrong than we are for ourselves. However, we should be cognizant of others and the direction they are going in life. We can help by being a godly example to them and show them how to get involved helping others. When we encourage them and get them doing for others, they will begin to spend more time helping them and less time on the things of the world.

1 Peter 5:3 “Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, sometimes we get so focused on ourselves trying to live the life You want us to live. Help us today to put the focus on others. Reveal to us who You want us to help. Show us people who are worshiping the things of the world and how we can get them involved in serving others so we can gently turn them back to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We don’t always realize how much we can help others when we live as God calls us to live.

Being a godly example to others will help them to know God is real.

Living by example can either be a good thing for those who know us or a bad thing. The choice is ours.

If God wants us to help and encourage others, then we have to get to know them and their needs.

Let’s find a way today to help others get involved in doing something for those who aren’t able to do for themselves.

We all have gifts that will help others. We can use our gifts to gently remind others when they are going down the wrong path.

Romans 12:8 “If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.” (NLT)
