My Joy Is Full!

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

What in the world does Christ have to do with losing weight? He has everything to do with losing weight because He, and He alone, can help us get rid of the lies that keep us bound to our self defeating behavior of eating wrong and too much.

The spirit told me years ago, "Get rid of the lies and doors will open unto you." For me lies are emotional weight that keeps me in bondage to excess of junk food, which results in excess of physical weight. I must "get rid of every weight which doth so easily beset me" another of the spirit's admonition.

What about those who do not have faith in Christ? What are they to do? Can we who know that Christ is the answer just let others who do not know Christ and His ability to help, keep floundering like a fish out of water? I have a firm testimony that "Despite the advantage the world can give in overcoming the flesh, Jesus can give the best advantage"

I am not so naive as to not know that there are those who have physical conditions that cause overweight but a great majority have a problem of turning to food in times of stress and this world is one big stress producer. Heaven, and Hell for that matter, knows we need relief from constant stress.

Where as, once sugar and excess of food were where I turned for solace, Jesus Christ is becoming my only source of peace and He is ridding me of the lies and emotional weights that have held me bound to my self defeating behavior of overeating and eating junk food for years and years. He is replacing the lies with truth. It keeps getting easier to trust in Him and allow Him to be in control of my life instead of me always trying to be so. It seems slow at times but this life is a drop in the bucket compared to eternity and I have need of patience.

Who would have thought that this 73 year old lady with health issues, belonging to an on-line community designed for those who want to help each other lose weight and get healthy, would have the opportunity to help lead someone to the true source of freedom from overeating, even Jesus Christ.

I am full of joy and excitement, because my dear friend Veronique here on Spark People (who did not believe that Jesus was and is the promised Messiah) was able to accept the truth and Christ as her Savior and be baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints two weeks ago. I feel so blessed that the Lord allowed me the great privilege of teaching such a special lady the truth and then He blessed her to come to a knowledge of that truth for herself through the Holy Ghost.

I watched her progress within the confines of my home reclining on my sofa, as I taught her on this computer; while recuperating from illness for four months. She is and will continue to be a great addition to the Christian community.

Alma 26:11,12...I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God. Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things;

    Such a wonderful witness for Jesus Christ. You are a true servant....and such a blessing to so many.
    I often think about those who do not know can they even get out of bed in the morning without hope in our Savior. This is a stressful world as you mentioned...and knowing Jesus and putting Him first instead of food is the best way to keep food in its proper fuel for our Body.
    Thanks for sharing....
