My sister in law is nuts...

Just venting here for a moment. My sister in law calls her unborn baby, "Mr. Fetus". I find this a tad disturbing. Am I alone here or have we become so insensitive to life that our children are called fetuses until they are born?
If you have ever lost a child, would you say you lost a fetus? Of course not!! Sometimes I don't get this woman...

Sounds pretty scientific to me. But this is a heartfelt thing, not clinical. She should leave those words for her physician. Maybe take a class. Use it up that way.

Sir Iaaac Newton is my 1st cousin 11x removed, and when I thought of my babies when I was pregnant, I imagined their breath on my neck.

I had friends who nicknamed their kids Cleatus (the Fetus) before they were born - they had names picked out but wanted everything to be a surprise (gender, name) when the baby was born lol

As a former OB RN and now an IBCLC, I couldn't agree with you more! The attitude towards infants and infant care has changed and now it is so much more "all about me" with the moms. I think its sad!

I tend to agree that she might be trying to distance herself, perhaps because she is a bit scared of the whole parenthood thing? But it does sound very strange to me. Otoh, I have a sister-in-law...well...let's just say that one cannot believe a word she says.

If I'm honest, calling it Mr. Fetus is something I would absolutely do. I'm also a little out there though and name inanimate objects like my laptop.

Back in my day, they were our babies from day one. We started thinking of names for boys and girls, and planning ahead for all sorts of things.

I don't get the young people in a lot of things they do and say. Guess I'm old.
