Respect, people

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

Okay, no hate to disappoint you right from the get go, but this blog is not going to be about weight loss....I am waiting on my weekly 1:1 call from my boss - I work from home and my boss lives in another state - and YET AGAIN he is running late...I am not just talking 2-5 minutes late, I am talking 15-30 minutes late. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine...RESPECT people's time! Heck, just respect people in general. To make it worse, we have a standing 1:1 meeting time on Monday of every week and WITHOUT FAIL he reschedules the meeting to a different day. What the heck is the point of having a standing meeting?? Then he is late to EVERY one. Really pisses me off.

To be perfectly honest, the reason that I am pissed off is because his lack of preparation interferes with my over preparation. I am an overachiever, OCD freak and pretty much schedule out my whole day - I hate surprises (okay, not GOOD surprises - I am not a complete psycho.) And right now, he is interfering with "errand" time, which will push back my daily run, and in turn, all the other plans I have made for today.

Lesson to you all: Think of me next time you blow something/someone off (not saying you all do)...You might be affecting their whole day!

Absolutely true......his tardiness show a definite lack of respect not just of your time but you as a person.....I cannot stand being late so I am always 10 minutes early.

I totally agree with you! It is a big pet peeve of mine when people are consistently unreliable. I understand things come up but when it happens all the time, it becomes aggravating. If I need to reschedule, I always try to do it with enough advanced notice so that the other person can more easily rearrange their plans. I try to keep my commitments, however. Sadly, I have family members and friends who are ALWAYS late or regularly flake out at the last minute. Even if it is not their intent to disrespect me, it does come off as such. My time is just as important as their time and vice versa.

Well, good luck with that. I hope you can salvage something out of today.

You should take 5 minutes out of your time to tell your boss that he is taking away from your work time. Sometimes you just have to tell people they are doing things that interfere with what you are trying to achieve.
