I have to Eat My Words...Thank Goodness they have no Calories!!!

Monday, May 20, 2013

I have been a loyal member of Weight Watchers for over 25 years. I have always loved the flexibility and realness of the program. My parents did Jenny Craig and although it worked for them, I made the comment that I would never go on a program like that.

Well, here I am, 46 years old, busier than I've ever been and watching my scale creep higher and higher. I don't know if it's my age, my health, my lifestyle, or some other excuse I could come up with, but whatever the reason, what I have been doing, has not been working for me. Hence, the larger numbers on my scale.

Suprisingly, it was my husband who suggested a particular program, (one of those I said I'd never go on). He thought I should check in to it, because he had been hearing about it on one of his favorite radio programs and how successful the producer had been on it. Well, I took his advice and did some research. It sounded pretty good, so I made an appointment for an initial consultation. I was still a little skeptical, but I figured it couldn't hurt to hear what they had to say.

The program is Medifast. Having a background as a personal trainer,I have studied the science of how the body works and was pretty impressed by what I heard at that initial meeting. Since I already had my husband's approval, I decided to make a commitment and joined the program.

My main reasons for doing this were pretty simple. I work 2 jobs, I have a son who is soon going to graduate, and I am heavily involved with the planning and construction of Grad Night. Typically, the last month to month and a half of school is very stressful and historically a time when I tend to gain weight. I really wanted something that did not require alot of planning. I also like the program because I am eating all the time. I love to nibble and find that my options on the program satisfy my needs.

I joined 3 weeks ago and have lost a total of 8.2. I still have about 17lbs to lose and hope to reach my goal by August 4. It was hard at first admitting that I was on this program, and I definitely have had to eat my words, but right now at this time of my life, it's the right decision for me.

I have missed being on SparkPeople and if time permits, will try to be on here more reguarly.

Till next time.

Good thing you recognize you need to do something before it got too late. Seems like a bad plan for me.. who is 107 pounds overweight and prob. could not stick to their brand of food.. but I bet it would work well for someone who has so little weight to lose like you :-)

I am glad that you found something that worked for you. I too was a loyal WW member. With me being out of work it was feasible for my to join again and found that spark works just as good. keep up the great work.

emoticon I'm glad the program is working. I've thought about joining that or maybe one that is like it and I just can't seem to commit to it. I'll think more about it now. emoticon
