What to Write About... Seeking Your Ideas/Input

Monday, May 20, 2013

Interesting as I was looking at the goals I set for myself when we rolled into 2013 and one of those goals was to explore the possibility of writing more - beyond my blogs.

Since I have put that thought out, sure as the law of attraction works with our thoughts, I have been receiving (or perhaps noticing) more emails or ads relevant to this topic. I have signed up for a free phone call with one of the authors who I had the priviledge to meet and have come speak to one of our chapter meetings through my association (Peggy McColl). She lives right near me and is living a successful life that I dream of living one day. She wrote this on her add "But after self publishing 4 books and selling 5 books to major publishing houses AND becoming an international best selling author and a New York Times Best Selling author (not to mention the phenomenally successful business I've built ...) I'm ready to show YOU too."

I also received some information from Balboa press (and received a phone call from them) - and they are linked to Hay House Publishing - which is my dream - to become a Hay House published author. Louise Hay has been a great part of my inspiration and healing, as well as many of the other authors from Hay House.

Now the issue is - what to write about? In reading some of the preliminary info I have received it speaks to finding your niche and what you're passionate about. There is no doubt in my mind that my book would be a self-help type or inspirational one. I thrive on being able to share my experiences to help others through similar challenges. But as they state - it has to be something new that's not out there - so how do I figure that out?

Well I have read many great books in the self-help category and to me they are all wonderful because the authors give THEIR spin or view on a particular topic - and that's what I need to figure out.

I also feel a great passion of course with the combination of mind/body/spirit work - the finding of the 'formula' that will be the code that works for you and allow you to live a full and balanced life.

I wanted to put this out to my SP friends - for those who follow my blogs - or others... what do you think would be good to write about that's not out there? While this project is not meant to be one to bring me fame or fortune (although that would be nice) - I want it to be meaningful and I do want it to go beyond just publishing but actually getting it out there.

So I guess in the writing process - I'm at the beginning and brainstorming and seeking your input... Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

You always keep a positive attitude in the face of fire. You could definitely write about that! Good luck. emoticon emoticon

OMG I am so excited for you. You have a talent for writing. I like the idea of a self help book. Your positive attitude is always there, no matter what happens. Motivation, encouragement is something that you give with each blog.

So there so many things you could choose. I'm sure the universe will point you in the correct direction.

    Wishing you much success

This sounds so familiar--including the advice! LOL
I wouldn't mind publishing a book of my work either! LOL

I'm a bit of a poet, and have even been published once upon a time--online as well as in an anthology and an audio book for the hearing impaired... but nothing all that notable, and my name is only inside and not on the covers...

My blogs contain an occasional piece...

The advice is good. Your best work is going to stem from your personal experiences, and it seems like you have plenty to draw from. My advice to myself is to not second-guess myself. Usually, I already know what I want to say and I'm just skittish about starting so I tell myself I don't know... but if I just ask myself that question and then sit back and relax for a bit, the idea is just "there"... where it's been all along.

well lets see everyone writes about fixing a problem and how they overcame things and obstacles. maybe you can write about how to keep a positive attitude until you find a solution to your problems. whatever you write about it will be grand you have mentors it is a start.

Oh boy, got some unanimous opinions going here for writing about your experiences as a single Parent. I really think that is a niche that you would excel @ with your experience, your compassion and your gift to identify with those having similar challenges. I think that's where I'd start.

    Wishing you lck! HUGS

I'm in agreement with the others. Write about your own experiences with your daughters and the issues you have or have over come. Keep your positive attitude in your writings. emoticon

I agree with the others. Write about your passions and interests. Write about who you are and what you do and how you live your life. You're so positive and relatable and I think that's what people need - someone who is warm, caring and approachable, but also full of positive advice, ideas and motivations.

You are strikingly positive in all aspects of your life. Perhaps write about your journey as a single mother and all the obstacles that you've had come your way (your daughters' difficulties, your relationships, your health, etc) and how you've overcome them. We live in a society of numerous single-parent households - you could touch many of them with your stories.

I would think a possibility of a self-help might be helping others with the problems and solutions with your daughters, especially in a single parent household and especially regarding the cutting as it seems so many young girls are cutting.

I agree with JODROX. You should think what you are passionate about and write about it. The writing has to come from your heart. When you are passionate about something things will come to you more easily.

    Best Wishes On Your Writings.

    GOD BLESS!

Hmmmm off the top of my head, I don't know what to tell you! :) Seems to me, you need to sit back and think about what you're really passionate about. What topic do you feel like you have a particularly valuable insight on?
