Fitness that Fits week 1

Quite some time ago I pre ordered a copy of the Spark Solution; My copy arrived about 2 weeks ago. In the meantime I had completed an 8 week challenge successfully and was not sure I needed the book. I opened it and began reading and it is well worth the money and the time.

I decided to go for the Fitness that Fits challenge concurrently with another challenge I am taking part in. I looked up the diet and shopping list for the first week and met my first big challenge; I am basically a vegetarian and these recipes are definitely vegetarian. I asked the question would I be able to substitute with similar vegetarian dishes and was told that wouldn't be a problem.

Day one I began by substituting a dish called soyameat with rice for the southwestern chicken and rice and found it a good exchange. I find that many of the Spark recipes can be easily adapted to vegetarian eating by using soyameat, tofu, vegeburger, etc in place of meat. It seemed to work well.

At the end of the week I found that I had actually "broken" out of a plateau that had lasted for about 3 weeks and I was down 2 pounds. I was having no problem following through with fitness although I am not using the beginners program because I am putting in about 90 minutes of outdoor exercise a day in the form of hard work in my vegetable and flower gardens. I do need to add in some strength training although lugging around bags of mulch and digging and hoeing is actually pretty good strength training.

I find it easy to do the tracking and am trying to aim for more accuracy in my measurements and not "eyeball" things. Up to this point I had been having problems actually eating the minimum amount of calories due to early satiety. Now I am actually eating about 100 calories more a day than before which brings me over my 1200 calorie minimum. I had been finishing my day with a "sweet treat" in the form of a "snack size" candy bar. I am no longer doing that or feeling the need to.

Nest week I want to work harder to fit my "old plan" into the new Spark Solution plan. I anticipate another good week with added health, energy and positive feelings.

It has been a good week and although I have adapted the program to fit my needs, it has motivated me to work harder at a healthier lifestyle. tion

    Yes, I pulled out my measuring cups this morning; I had made french toast and wanted to know how much syrup I was actually using; turns out it was 1/16 cup of low calorie syrup on one piece of french toast. At 100 calories per 1/4 cup that makes it about 25 calories for syrup. Just about like buttering the bread and it actually had more syrup than I needed.

    I am good with finding time to exercise but i am not to good with eating mindfully. but i did havbe my measuring cups out for some snacks so that should help.
