Thanks everyone for the suggestions on my previous blog. I managed to get out side a little bit today. I had to do some grocery shopping so I didn't really have a choice. Besides that my day has been pretty much the same as the last few days. Still hanging in there and wanting the medication to start working. I think I am going to watch a movie tonight to try and get my mind of things. How is everyone's weekend going?

My weekend was mostly gardening, which I love to do. There is something uplifting about planting something and watching it grow. I filled in my herb garden yesterday with basil, dill, cilantro, flat leaf parsley and marjoram. I let the neighbors come and help themselves to the herbs once they are big enough. Nothing like cooking with fresh herbs - brightens any dish.
Maybe you could do an inside growing project? They make cute little herb pots that would grow in a window for you.
Glad to hear you got outside for a bit. The Vitamin D from the sunshine and the endorphins from moving around should help at least a bit in improving your depression.
Hope your drugs start making a difference for you. Hugs!

emoticon and emoticon on some pretty amazing progress, some real steps forward - and at a time where that can't have been at all easy. I hope you're having good weather in your part of the country so that your trip outside, and to the grocery store, was a pleasant one in nice spring weather, Tanya. GOOD FOR YOU for going to the time and trouble - even if it was a struggle or felt unnatural - of getting out there and getting something good for yourself done today emoticon .

I'm excited (and some of this is because I've struggled with depression on and off for many years) about the growing field in psychiatry of "neuroplasticity." Researchers have found that in addition to changing the brain's chemistry with antidepressants, what we actually do ourselves from day to day has a very real, measurable effect on the brain's structure and function. I saw this in an article on the Psychology Today website, and you can find it here (you may have to cut and paste this piece by piece into your address bar as Spark doesn't automatically do it:)

Read the part about the woman named Hannah who made some impressive changes in her biology and brain just by doing yoga. I've found this so encouraging, and I hope you will, too! emoticon Susan

You know sunshine - my baby boy begs me to sing your song to him every day (countless times). It is his favorite!

Here's hoping some sunshine fills your life pretty soon - I know it has been hard.

    Much love,

My weekend is blah - can't exactly say why. Looking forward to Monday. Sometimes I need more "me" time and it is hard with dh here all day. He is stuck at home with a sinus infection - so no going outside at all - all weekend.

I hope you really enjoy your movie - pick a good one!
