And I started so well too

So, I was on a 5 day streak of at least logging on every day, maybe throwing up a blog. Than the site went down. I fretted about it all day. Than, again, yesterday, I forgot to eat. All day. I had 2 pots of coffee until about 4:30 when I started eating everything in site. So did Ronan. Part of the problem was I got caught up in trying to modify the Spark Solution diet. To be honest, I can't afford to shop like that. I have a 200$ budget and there is no way I can do the diet and feed my son properly. I've been trying to figure out how I can adapt it for my budget. 4 hours yesterday was devoted to setting up a week of meals but they don't come close to the calorie count. I'm very disappointed that I can't follow the plan but I don't see how I can. Mostly I can do the dinner meals alright but some of the breakfasts, snacks, and lunches are far above what I can manage. So now I'm trying to work in all the bad stuff that I KNOW isn't good for us but I can't live without.
One thing I did find out id that brown rice freezes well. I'm also trying to figure out a good way to blanch some of my veggies to make them last in the freezer. I'm also working on better portion sizing the icky foods to keep them in better check while stocking up on lots of fruits and veggies.
Now that I've whined into the blog I'm going to go make my tuna sandwiches with pita pockets. Happy days everyone.

    Thanks Snoopy. I just got back from price checking a few stores. I found a few of the items for relatively cheap if I just walk a bit further. I think if I do try just one or two of the more specific items *like the curry* a month I can fit those recipes in. Also, I fond a few that I'd like to repeat *Southwestern Chicken for example*. I used the left overs for the enchiladas the next day! I was pretty proud of that :P.

    Maybe if you just bought one or two of the spices or condiments...or cheaper but low calorie equivalents and used them to liven up the meals (like the tips in the back of the book for quick meals or ways to spice up basic things). Even just the reduced fat jif rather than the pricier all natural unsweetened peanut butter? I haven't had the time/patience for the breakfast meals yet, so I just made a point to measure my usual cheerios and 1% milk.

    The solution menu seems to have a lot of variety in flavors to attract people, but it's definitely a big chunk out of the pocketbook if you get everything on their lists. emoticon

    Even only doing a few of the steps in the book ARE STEPS! Keep going, and good luck!!!!
