Days Two & Three

Friday, May 17, 2013

I so badly wanted to write an entry for yesterday, but SparkPeople was down. But it's all good.

Day Two: I was feeling kind headachey when I woke up. I know this is normal, and part of the detox. I took a couple ibuprofen and got on the scale. I was stunned to see that I'd lost six pounds. I know it's mostly water weight, but I'd be a liar if I didn't admit to being excited about a six pound loss in the first day. So I made juice for breakfast, then went to work. At work, all I had was my huge thermos of juice and water. When I got home, Husband (who had been home all day long!) had JUST started the dishwasher. So I waited until that was finished to start my "dinner" juice. I was pretty ticked off, because I was READY FOR DINNER. I was hungry and was looking forward to a big juice. But I survived. I did a few things around the house, took a bubble bath, read a bit of a magazine, etc. I made some scrambled eggs to stick in the fridge so they could just be heated up really quick for breakfast. They smelled SO GOOD!!! Ugh, it was all I could to do not eat them. I have my own eggs too, from my beautiful cage-free hens. You can't get better eggs than from my girls. I so badly wanted to eat ALL the eggs that I scrambled :) But I didn't! Didn't even have one bite. Then I made my juice and later on, got in bed. Then I started feeling really crappy. I felt like really nauseated - again, I know it's just part of the detox. So I decided to make myself a big mug of hot herbal tea. It was exactly what I needed. I felt better almost immediately, and was able to fall asleep pretty quickly and had a good night's sleep. **Here I should point out that for a few months now, I've been taking a shot of Nyquil EVERY SINGLE night. For MONTHS. I truly couldn't get to sleep without it.** I haven't had any Nyquil in two nights, since starting the Juice Cleanse!! :) :) :) The first night was a little hard, but last night I went to sleep with no problem. I think it was the herbal tea that made the difference. I'll try that again tonight, especially if I was feeling like I was last night! :)

Day Three: I noticed that it was easier to wake up this morning than it usually is. I got up, took a couple more ibuprofen (had another bit of a headache) and weighed myself again. I lost another two pounds. So I'm down 8 pounds so far! Woot! Then I went to the kitchen, made my juice, drank my breakfast and went to work. Today was a fun day. We had a field trip to the park. It was so nice to just get away from school for the day. We had a picnic and all the kids had a great time. I sat on one of the sheets with my kids while they had their lunch. This lunch was kind of torturous! They had cheese quesadillas, pizza, carrots, fruit, Cheetos, pink cupcakes, milk, and lemonade. (Hey, it was a field trip, so we had an extra fun lunch today!) I guess if I have a weakness it would be something CHEESY. I especially love Mexican food and pizza! But I made it. I just sat on a sheet with some cute kiddos and drank my juice. We had a great day at the park and on the bus ride back to school, the kids were soooo tired. They were really, really quiet on the ride back. We got back to the classroom, and they just crashed onto their cots. It was pretty funny how worn out they were. Then they ate a HUGE snack: more fruit, Doritos, cookies, and graham crackers (leftover picnic food -- we usually don't eat like this, but today was a special day). It was so hard to have all that junk food in my face today, but I didn't eat one scrap of it! I'm so incredibly proud of myself! I got some sun today, as well. When I got home, I did a little work on my garden (ok, they are really just sproutlets and containers of dirt) and then I started cooking dinner for my family. I made a nice vegetarian stir-fry for them. Holy macaroni it smelled so good. I don't know if it's just because I'm "not eating" or what, but food just smells AMAZING to me the past few days. Speaking of which, I had a strange experience today at the park. I handed one of my kids a slice of pizza, and got some of the grease on my fingertips. I actually said, "Ew," and wiped my fingers on the sheet. That grease on my fingers actually grossed me out...and pizza is one of my favorite foods in the whole world.

So, last night I ran out of dishwasher soap. My juicer contraption is infinitely easier to wash in the dishwasher, so I just decided to wait and let the dishwasher do it. I got it started just a little while ago. I'll have my juice later. Right now, I think I'm going to watch a movie with my family.

Anyway, I'm feeling good about my Juice Cleanse. I've tried to do a Juice Cleanse a couple of times before, but it just didn't work out. I didn't stick with it, and could only make it about 2.5 days. I'm super proud of myself that I'm nearing the end of Day Three!!

Now I just have to get through the weekend with all this food in my house! :)

I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one who was a little disappointed that SparkPeople was down and then was like manana. I was about that in getting my exercise and water and then I had to tell myself I would get it in tomorrow. Glad you were able to avoid temptation. It's hard, but I'm proud that I've learned compromise. I would have had like a chip or something like that. LOL
