Day 1

Friday, May 17, 2013

Today was honestly a great day. One of those days that you hope to never forget as you grow older.
It started off pretty quiet. My daughter didn’t even wake up until it was almost 10 AM. As I was feeding her a bottle for breakfast, she just stared into my eyes. One of those times were we’re saying so much to each other without uttering one syllable. I LOVE those moments with her because I know all to well how quickly they grow up!
When my son arrived home, he played with his sister…which is him sitting her in her bouncer and then scooting her over to sit next to him so that he can talk to her and let her watch him play his PS game Transformers. She loves it. She coos and gurgles at him the whole time and he talks right back to her…”You think I should go that way, huh. Okay.” or “Wow Sissy! Did you see Megatron? He was like “BAM” and I was like “WHOA” and then I was like “BOOYAH”!!!! I’m so kicking his butt!”
After my husband got home, I was playing with Cat, my daughter, when James, my son, started playing peek-a-boo with Cat. She studied him closely and then all of a sudden, erupts into baby giggles!!! It was the sweetest thing ever!!! She’s never laughed before and as James kept playing, she kept giggling more. Then Matt, my husband, joined in and she just could NOT stop laughing!!!
When night fell, I couldn’t help but be so happy that as the day went on, I focused on those little things that make the day feel so great rather than on the things that can ruin a great day so quickly. It wasn’t that there was no “bad moments: taking my son to the doctor and finding out he has staph infection, waiting at Walmart for James’ prescriptions for over an hour and half, or even me burning myself slightly when my spaghetti sauce popped and splashed on my hand. It’s not that you overlook the bad things and pretend that they’re not there, it’s looking forward to all of the other good things that lie in store…like a simple giggle.
