Taking my MEDS!

I like to keep things simple and make lists. As I drove home from work yesterday, I thought about weight loss and how I'm looking forward to people asking me (again) how I did it. Some people will answer that they went on some weird diet. Most maintainers will recite the simple math of it: eat healthier and move more. Some might also credit better sleep habits and drinking plenty of water. And that's when the acronym MEDS popped into my head.

Take your MEDS!


emoticon Is that not sheer brilliance? So, here are my modified goals:

1. Move - 10k steps a day and continue 30 Day Squat Challenge
2. Eat - stay in my calorie range and track it all
3. Drink - drink at least 64 oz. of water
4. Sleep - 8 hours a night

I've been streaking with these goals since Mother's Day. I fell a little short on the steps on two days. Even with a workout, I still need to do a little extra to get the 2k or so steps in to make goal. Having these goals in front of me is motivating.

Oh, P.S. I'm signing back up to chat with a health coach for some extra accountability. Boeing switched services. Now our health coaches are through WebMD. I'll let you know what I think :)

    I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say about WebMD. I am doing some research for our staff at work for a program next year and have been looking a bit into for some support with exercise and motivation.

    Wow I never thought of it like that. Thanks for blogging about MEDS acronym. I walk during my 2-15 minutes breaks and my 30 minute lunch break while I am at work. Then I never sit down once I am at home. But, with that said, I am an empty nester and do not have a spouse or children at home depending on me. emoticon emoticon emoticon

    You are doing so great! And I love the MEDS acronym, it is brilliant! I take a 15 minute walk everyday during work, and then go to the gym after work. I do think just that 15 minutes does help immensely. It's not just about the extra calorie burn, I think it's the act of reducing my stress half way through the day. I know it sure does clear my mind! I'm so glad we both found some motivation, I'm back to relosing over half of the pounds I had lost. One of these days it will completely click for me. Thanks for your blog, I will be thinking about MEDS through the hardest time! Hugs...Robin
