week 3, lessons learned...

Thursday, May 16, 2013

well, week 3.... behind me! emoticon

i got rid of a pound( i say, "rid of" since i DON'T plan on EVER finding it again!), and a half inch off my biceps and thighs( i guess this is due to "leaning out" my muscles?). emoticon

well, week one, i lost THREE pounds and week TWO i lost THREE pounds, so i am thinking that my week three is like most people's week two, since that is usually the week people lose very little or not at all? emoticon

now, let's get something straight, was i TOTALLY disappointed when i saw that it was only ONE pound? heck, yes! emoticon was i even more frustrated and angry when i saw that i didn't lose any INCHES in my waist, nor hips or anything? double heck yes! emoticon

BUT, then i held a pound of butter, hey, this really IS something! emoticon and a half an inch off my bicep and thigh? that does mean something! it means...

i am drinking more water emoticon
i am eating more fruit and veggies emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
i am not eating as much (actually very little) fast food emoticon emoticon
i am walking more emoticon
i am back to karate (CONSISTENTLY ) emoticon
i am doing my work out DVDs and getting NEW ones emoticon emoticon
i am taking the stairs whenever i can emoticon
i am wanting to hang out with my friends (being a little more social) emoticon
i am wanting to spend quality time with my kids and hubby emoticon emoticon
i am wearing more flattering clothes (not my big sweats all the time) emoticon
i want to buy MAKE-UP! i hardly EVER want to wear make-up! emoticon
i try to have more quiet, reflective, prayer time. emoticon
AND i have reached my first month's weight goal with a week yet to go! emoticon

now i know that i am gonna have more UP and DOWN days, but it is a small victory that even though the scale hasn't moved as much as i have wanted, OTHER things have changed. i am becoming the person i have always wanted to be....

i thank the Lord, and my spark friends for helping me see the positive, i couldn't do it otherwise!

so one pound? yes. just a couple of inches? yes. but a lot of other changes that will make the scale move down and get more inches off, and make me a better person to my family and friends and others, yup, it is worth it! emoticon

Awesome NSV's! Keep recording all the positives so that when things are not feeling so awesome you can reflect back and remember it will happen again.

I have a hard time setting goals for weighins because I set myself up for failure. So instead, I set goals to track nutrition and exercise then hope for the best on the scale. When I am really working towards losing I weigh weekly but for the times I am coasting or on a maintaince cycle I weigh monthly. When I want to avoid the scale totally then I know its up without getting on but I face it anyway. How will you know how far you've come if you don't know where you started?!?!

Keep it going...results will come! emoticon
