exercise and sickness :(

Monday, May 13, 2013

Well, I've been sick for about three days now, and I haven't been able to exercise at all! This makes me feel lazy and guilty, but I'm too tired to move. I had to work all weekend as well, so that just adds to my exhaustion. I've seen several articles online about continuing to work out while ill, and it may work work for/help some people, but I'm just soooo tired! Hopefully I'll feel a little better tomorrow and be able to pick up where I left off! It just makes me wonder though, would I feel better if I got up and moved? I just can't find the energy to try :(

If you are that tired, then your body likely is saying it needs genuine rest...and that might include rest from feeling guilty about not working out!

We each have individual mechanisms with which to cope with the stress of any illness, big or small. Your body is telling you what, in this particular case of illness, it wants to do to handle it--give it time to recover.

So maybe instead of reading about how others are working out through illness, you might find a comfy couch, a blanket, a soft pillow, a tall glass of water and a good book of...jokes? romance? scifi?...whatever.

And then you can read a while and nap a while and have some water and read and nap, etc., until your body says "Now's the time. Let's move!"

    Best of success to you.

Take care of yourself. If you don't have the energy, that could be your body telling you that you need to rest.

Try not to feel guilty. We all need a break from time to time.
