REMAIN IN THE TEACHING OF GOD
Anything, anybody, any emotion we feel can keep us from God. When we allow things, people and emotions to control our thoughts and actions we are not living for God and destruction will follow. We may not see it right away. We may be overcome with temptation but we have to be able to recognize it quickly and take the action God wants us to take. Recognizing when we are going down the wrong path and turning back to God isn’t always easy but it can be done when we keep our relationship strong with God, when we stay in His word and when we commit to personal time with Him every day. We can’t allow other things to control us. Then satan wins and we lose.
2 John 1:9 “Anyone who wanders away from this teaching has no relationship with God. But anyone who remains in the teaching of Christ has a relationship with both the Father and the Son.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we want to be on the right path for You today. Help us to know what things we should be doing and what we need to stay away from. It is so easy to allow our thoughts and minds talk us into things that we shouldn’t be doing. Help us to create a system that reminds us to be devoted only to You, to worship only You and to obey only You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Taking our thoughts away from God will lead us down a path where we begin to search for answers in the wrong places.
Our actions and words are in direct proportion to what we fill our minds with. What things of the world do we need to stop focusing on so we can focus more on God?
When we allow our thoughts and actions to be consumed by the things of the world, including money, we are putting them all in a place in our lives where God should be.
When we allow others to get to us and to control us, we are deciding not to follow God.
When we allow our emotions to control us, we are clouding our judgment, our decisions and our actions.
God tell us to remain in Him and He will remain in us. Without Him we can do nothing.
John 15:5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” (NLT)
