Weekend Recap

Sunday, May 12, 2013

I'm starting to back off on my running in anticipation for my scheduled half-marathon on May 19th; the Green Bay CellCom Marathon/Half-Marathon. I have never run a half-marathon this early in the running season and for good reason. With the unpredictable spring weather that Wisconsin can experience, it's a challenge to get the training mileage completed. This spring has been has been particularly challenging; I've dealt with snow, windchills of below 10 degrees, rain and high winds. Yesterday was no exception to the roller coaster of the spring weather we've been experiencing - on Thursday I was running in a tank top and capris in 80 degree weather, yesterday? Let's just say the temp was 45 degrees with 20 mph winds - brrrr!! Thankful, I only had to go 8 miles. Today, is a cross-training day, so I'll try and get a 4 mile walk accomplished.

My DH and I went to my parent's last night to spend time with my Mom and we also watched a portion of the NASCAR race. Didn't stay to the end, who won?

This morning, we're off to the local home improvement store, a stop at the mother-in-law's place and back home to try and get some more yard work done. As weird as this sounds, I'm looking forward to getting on the riding lawn mower and doing some lawn mowing.

Happy Mother's Day to all those mom's of furkitties: ?v=qMizhtpZPzg

Have a blessed Sunday!

This weather is crazy - certainly makes training a challenge! 32 here this morning, going up to the high 80's tomorrow? You are going to do great for your 1/2! I ran my first 1/2 last year in Kenosha - I couldn't have picked a better one! Although the weather was cold and wet, the people of WI were warm and friendly! I hope to run the Marathon there next year; this year I am still working through an injury and had to skip it!

Remember to just have fun!!! That's what makes it worth it! emoticon

Aww! I just watched the video (with the sound off otherwise I knew it make me cry). Do you have a spy cam in my home? 'Cause I was just commenting to my husband that I wanted a day to celebrate being a pet parent where we would be feted as much as the other parents.

We did my other Mom's (husband's Mom) yesterday. Since my Mom lives with us the whole weekend will be Mother's day - plus my husband and Mom will go see the new Star Trek movie when it comes out next week.

Have fun in the great outdoors!

And Happy Cat Mom Day to You!
