Life on the farm

Saturday, May 11, 2013

Last night we got home my DD and GS and I and the dogs were barking at something on the side of the house. It was a snake. Not til today did I find out it was a cotton mouth. My DD had my GS get the spade but she couldn't kill it. I took the spade and pinned his head to the ground and tried as much as I could to get his head off but to no avail. Then my DD got the wire cutters. I had her keep the head pinned and I tried to cut his head off but still he was resilient. I could only cut part of his body off. Then I said go get a box and we'll put him in it. Meanwhile my DD got the gas can and after she got him in the box she poured gas on him and he went wild at that. We had the box shut and we pulled him over to the place where the neighbors burn stuff and she set fire to him. Hurray we finally got him dead. What an ordeal. LOL Between the 2 of us we got him dead. Life on the trout farm. LOL Hope

that reminds me of my Grandmother. She was very scared of snakes. She offered to pay me and my brother 1.00 for each gartner snake that we killed. We only tried to kill one of them. She lived in a small town in Iowa near railroad tracks. So there were a few snakes in her yard.
