Attempting the Spark Solution Challenge while travelling ...?

Saturday, May 11, 2013

Again with the not blogging! I got a work-load dumped on me this week, which has preoccupied me massively. Schedule of travel for work still mutating so I really don't know what I'm in for when I set out Monday AM at 3:30 (yes, AM) for a trek to the first visit of the week. I think they wanted me to work through the day, through the night and then through the next day and night ... not rational. But I think my colleague can do the later half of the services requested each day.

So I may not have much time or brain cells to be Sparking a great deal! BUT I am joining the Spark Solution Challenge Monday anyway to try to wake my food program back up. I'll have time to read and maybe participate in some posting. Not to grocery shop or cook, however, as I will be on the road for 8 days out of the fourteen! I will be forced to make healthy food choices on the road. That is typical of life! Gotta manage what I have. I am certainly not going to try to wait until I have a long stretch without travel!!! I will be waiting until I am no longer working! LOL! So a Challenge it will truly be for me.

Perhaps I'll have a chance to blog halfway through.

It can be a challenge when you travel, I run into it too. Not sure what kind of work you do or where you stay. But I do pack my workout stuff and if they have a gym at the hotel, I try and get a workout in. I also pack some protein bars, I buy Detour bars at Costco and I'll have one of those for breakfast with a banana or something to keep me from buying junk food. Then I just try and make healthy choices on the menu, stay away from the bread basket, order a protein and a vegetable. And never order deserts. If I am at the same place for a while, I'll go to Target or Walmart and pick up a 12 pack of water so I always have enough water to drink. I was on the road this past week and leave again on Monday to Thursday.
    Safe travels!

Well, at least log your food and see if you can keep within the 1450-1550 range their meals have set and get some exercise in; hope you have good hotels with good little gyms in them :-)
