Thought and Prayer for Saturday, May 11, 2013

Saturday, May 11, 2013

Unlike bathing, brushing our teeth, going to working, etc., worship isn’t a job or a chore we do for a certain time of day and then go back to what we feel like doing. Devotion to God is 24/7/365. Doing His will is a continuous thing. We don’t just worship God to get it out of the way. We have to get into His word, talk to Him and listen to what He wants us to do that day. He can guide us so that we aren’t tempted to do the things of world. It isn’t always easy to stay focused on Him, not to idolize what others have or put things first before Him. No, it isn’t easy but it is possible.

Matthew 19:26 “Jesus looked at them intently and said, ‘Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.’” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we want to worship You 24/7/365. We want to worship You when we get up, when we get ready for the day, during the day and into the night as we lay our head on our pillow. We know things will come up that will distract us. We know that things of the world will want to draw us to them and move us away from You. That is why we need Your help. We commit to You, today, Lord to keep our focus on You so we can do Your will all day and give You the glory You deserve. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God is with us continuously watching over us and He wants us to be with Him continuously as well.

When we give God part of our day rather than all of it, we will find temptation lurking and ready to pounce on us.

God deserves our entire day. There are things He wants to do through us and since we don’t always know what they are, we need to always be ready.

Knowing that God has plans for us should be the one reason we should always be ready.

We can’t do much on our own. It’s hard to stay focused, be disciplined and be positive. But with God we can do anything and everything He wants us to do.

Matthew 7:14 “But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” (NLT)

When we live for God all day and all night putting Him before anyone or anything else, we are honoring God.

2 Thessalonians 1:12 “Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.” (NLT)
