Day 3 GF - class party today

Friday, May 10, 2013

Today will probably be my daughter's hardest "GF-day" since changing to a GF diet. In honor of teacher appreciation week, her class is having a party for her teacher. There will be lots of cookies, brownies, crackers, etc - all off limits for now. To help her not feel left-out, we bought a GF brownie from local bakery and made her own chocolate/peanut butter chip cookies using the Hodgson Mill GF cookie mix. She is also taking chips and cheese to share.

I'm also planning to volunteer at the class party - just in case she needs help with what she can and can't eat emoticon

Sidenote: I was soooo excited to find out that the coffee shop in our neighborhood carries gluten free bread, pastries, pizza, etc all made at a local GF bakery! This is especially amazing since I live out in the "boonies" and at least 45 minutes away from the nearest Trader Joe's or Whole Foods!

YAY for gluten free! It was challenging for me when I switched to gluten free, but now it's just "normal". Your daughter will probably not even find it challenging once she gets in the groove of it! Good luck to her!
