Hitting the first Plateau?

Thursday, May 09, 2013

I have most of this week off from work; I don't know why. Next week I'm working Monday-Friday, which is weird. Anyway. This week I worked Monday and Tuesday at my two jobs, and now I have the rest of this week off. It's kind of throwing me off.

Last week I lost 9 ounces. Slow progress is still progress! I have to keep repeating this. I finally got a tape measure and did some measurements a couple weeks ago. Hips and waist the same as they were in December (last time I measured), bicep and thigh lost an inch each. Progress? Then I measured again on Saturday and my hips and waist lost inches, while my bicep and thigh gained? o.O All other measurement charts show an upward trend, so that's good I guess. My jeans were starting to feel looser, but then I switched to another pair in the same size and they felt snug, so I guess I just need to wash the first pair.

Anyway. Last week has kind of blurred together. I didn't really stick to my exercise schedule, and I had a lot of sugar, although I still mostly managed to meet my goals.

This week I've been feeling less motivated. Tired because of work on Tuesday, and yesterday and today just not wanting to get up and move. I did manage to do my pilates yesterday, but I never got around to my walk. I still need to do today's walk and Wii active. Pilates is getting easier, or perhaps just repetitive; I need some new core exercises or at least a new routine. Kind of the same with walking. Last week I didn't feel like jogging much because of work, so it was kind of a regression to just walking. I think I need some cardio variances. I thought about going swimming today, but it turned out to be too cold. I need to get my bike tuned up; the gears don't shift right. I don't know where I'd ride though.

Been eating better this week. More balanced. Yesterday I cooked split pea soup and made burritos, now I have a ton of leftovers for the rest of this week.

I don't really have a conclusion for this post, except it's getting late and I need to get off the couch.

That's good, you're eating much better this week :D
For your workout, perhaps you need to change your routine, even if just a little. Make your existing workout more challenging, try something new, etc etc. How about you try ZWOW workouts (search YouTube for ZuzkaLight or ZWOW).

    Good luck!

Motivation is hard to deal with. As far as the measurements...remember this... the weight has to shift around before the body decides to release it. So hopefully that's what's happening with you.

Motivation is hard! I find if I start thinking about starting to work out as soon as I walk through the door, I'm fine. The minute i sit down to read the mail or something, I'm a goner! Then it takes a lot of convincing me to change and go to it! emoticon

It's hard when your motivation stalls. I definitly understand that feeling!
The best thing for it... take tomorrow, eat better, go for a brisk walk, take some great music along and do at least a little jogging! Take a trip to the store and see if they have any cheap exercise DVDs that interest you.
Don't quit! You can do it! Just keep at it!
