Tracking eating out

Wednesday, May 08, 2013

Lastnight I got home from work, my poor wife was frazzled, 4 year old causing mayhem, new puppy causing mayhem and suffering from a head cold. "We're eating out tonight" she proclaimed, so off we went to our local pasta place, Pasta Pantry here in Sherwood Park (which we are lucky to have as it is awesome!).

The problem I have with the smaller family restaurants is that they have no nutritional information so you have to guess.........not too hard when it's just plain pasta with homemade tomato vegetable sauce. I hate guessing quantities though, being from an engineering background I'm not good at making guesstimates!

If anyone reads this and has any ideas please let me wife says I can't bring a scale to the restaurant!

you wife is right about not bringing your scale to the restaurant : ) Think about it this way if you are good 95% of the time the 5% you guesstimate is not going to hurt - find the closest and I usually try to estimate alittle higher to be safe emoticon

I struggle with this too. I try to find a comparable entrée from a national chain and use their nutrition info. It's not exact, but gives a pretty good estimate.
