Sparkpeople vs. MyFitnessPal

Wednesday, May 08, 2013

For over 2 years now I have loved Sparkpeople. It has helped me so much and in so many ways. However; I have recently started using MyFitnessPal. It is so much more user friendly, way more technologically advanced and focus way less on being "skinny". I don't foresee not using Sparkpeople but I am pretty sure for all things tracking I'm going to have to go with MyFitnessPal.

I believe in following the Spark program, but I use the trackers on MFP to do so. My personal goals are too complicated to try to track on Sparkpeople, but I do like the idea of a Fast Break and setting smaller goals.

I also track on MFP as I find it much easier but the SP community is my go to place.

I use SparkPeople for the support, but myfitnesspal is my go to for tracking my exercise and food! Enjoy!

Branching out and trying new things is always good- it keeps services competitive, which benefits everyone!

Hey Jess! What ever works for you -- is what you have to do. While I don't have a MFP, I do know that the Spark community and all it's resources have changed my life! I don't feel that the onus is on getting skinny -- but just getting healthier, which is what brought me here in the first place.
I'm sure that after your past 2 years, you have a clearer handle on what you need to continue your success. Good luck to you! emoticon

I use to use Sparkpeople but scanning with the MFP barcode scanner is so much easier and they scan more things than Sparkpeople can find.

I just joined Spark but have been on MFP for about 2 years. i have to admit, I do prefer the tracking on MFP as well but think I'm going to like the community and advice features on Spark more.

Very interesting. I never got the feeling that SP focused on being "skinny" just healthy, but it's always good to check out other options. That's how I left my old site for SP.

emoticon I sure hope you do continue with Spark. I'm glad you found something that works for you. I don't like change, and probably wouldn't venture out and try a different site from Spark, so I hope Spark learns a lesson from MyFitnessPal and keeps up with this technology you speak of.
