I have been a part of an awesome 5% challenge for almost a year now. My first round was last summer. I rocked that round, was the second biggest loser, and was the last one standing for the loss every week challenge. But after that round is when my life turned upside down and I have not done well the last two rounds. I have been a part of the Casual Travelers team for my first three challenges. For my fourth challenge I get to be a part of a new team, the Spirited Underdogs. I will miss my old team, but am excited for the opportunity to meet some new awesome Spark friends.
I reached my goal to lose 60 lbs back on Thanksgiving day 2011. But was not able to maintain that loss. I have been in a funk for sometime now. A really really bad funk. Last September I seemed to lose all motivation for everything. I could not bring myself to prepping my lunches, get up before work and workout, go workout during lunch, drink water, nothing. All I wanted to do was eat junk and sit. My will power was gone. Every little hiccup drove me to the vending machine or Taco Bell.
I tried to restart in Jan (after gaining back 40 lbs) but that only lasted two weeks. Then life through a few large curve balls and back into my junk habit I went. I just craved food all the time.
Recently I have refound my motivation and groove. I hope to keep up my groove and motivation with this new 5% challenge. Last week I set the following goals for the month of May:
Mays goals are:
1 I have focused on just getting back into a workout routine, which has been mostly cardio, I need to get strength training back into my routine - strength training 3 times a week
2 Go to the gym at work during lunch at least 3 out of 5 days if not 4.
3 Get up and run every Sat morning if it isn't raining (sorry, I draw the line at rain )
4 If we can get the registration swapped from some friends that can no longer participate - run a night 5K on 5/10
5 Continue Preparing my lunches for the week each Sunday
Since last week was not a full week for May, I will give an update on my progress next week.
