A Well-Rounded Person, Metaphorically Speaking

Blogging -- journaling -- it's something that sustains me. But today I don't want to write about my weight, my exercise, things I eat, clothes I wear, or any of those things that seem so relevant in relation to what we do here on SparkPeople.
The thing is, we all have other interests besides losing weight. Or at least I hope we do. Otherwise we are not very well-rounded people (oops, well, I am not "well-rounded" any more after losing 55 pounds, haha!).
So what are my other interests? Well, gardening is one. The first days of Spring when the garden starts to flower are exciting for me, and it just continues through the summer as I watch the flowers in my garden bloom.
I also love photography. So, as you may imagine, I take a lot of photos of flowers blooming in my garden.
I read when I can. Right now I mostly borrow ebooks from my library system and read them on my iPad. My favourite genre is Mystery. I like detective novels, particularly police procedurals set in Scandinavia or Britain. But I am also somewhat omnivorous when it comes to literature, so I read a variety of books. I have high standards for writing, though. I will not continue to read a poorly written book, regardless of how well-recommended it is. Life is too short.
I knit as well. Mostly scarves and shawls. I took up knitting as a quiet distraction when my hip first started to pain me. Since it is so sedentary, I don't do as much of it any more. Of course, I also consider it a winter activity. Summer time is for gardening; winter for knitting.
I have always been a writer. I have kept a journal since I was 15 years old. Blogging was a revelation. Finally, an audience. I have online friends I made through blogging that I consider to be closer than many people I know in real life -- even though I have never met those fellow bloggers in person.
How about you? What are your interests outside of SparkPeople?
